Our School Day

THE SCHOOL DAY

The school gates are opened for all children at 8.40am each morning and are locked at 8.50am. Parents are welcome to drop all ages of children at the doors.  Anyone arriving after this time will need to go to the office and sign in. 

Reception

Parents are asked to hand their children directly to a member of the team waiting on the door for them.  Reception children take snack and playtime breaks in the morning and afternoon to meet the needs of the children. Lunchtime for Reception is from 11.30am to 12.30pm. At the end of the day, Reception children are collected from their classroom door at 3:10pm

Year One

There will always be at least one member of staff waiting on the door and when the children enter their classroom there will be a morning activity waiting for them. Children have a snack and playtime break in the morning and a playtime in the afternoon. Lunchtime for key stage one is from 11.55am to 12.45pm. At the end of the day Year One children are collected from their class door at 3.15pm.

Years Two and Three

There will be a member of the team ready to greet the children at the door and a morning activity will be waiting for them. Children have a snack and playtime break in the morning and a playtime in the afternoon. Lunchtime for Year Two is from 12.10pm to 1.00pm and 12.00pm to 12.50pm for Year Three. At the end of the day, Year two and three children are collected from their classroom external doors at 3.15pm.

Years Four and Five

There will be a member of the team ready to greet the children at the double doors at the bottom of the stairs and take any messages for the class teacher. A morning activity will be waiting for the children in their classrooms. Children have a break for a healthy snack and play each morning. Lunchtime for Year 4 is 12.10pm to 1pm and 12.30 to 1.00pm for Year 5.

At the end of the day, Year 4 and 5 children are collected from their classrooms at 3.20pm. If parents of Year 5 children wish their child to walk home without an adult they will need written permission (an email to office@etchinghillprimary.academy is sufficient) .

Year Six

There will be a member of the team ready to greet the children on the steps leading to the mobile and take any messages for the class teacher. A morning activity will be waiting for the children in their classrooms. Children have a break for a healthy snack and play each morning. Lunchtime for Year 6 is 12.30pm to 1.15pm

At the end of the day, Year 6 children will be released from their classrooms at 3.20pm. If parents of Year 6 children wish their child to walk home without an adult they need written permission (an email to office@etchinghillprimary.academy is sufficient) .

The total number of hours per week is:

Reception – 32hours and 30 minutes

Years One, Two and Three – 32hours and 55 minutes

Years Four, Five and Six – 33hours and 20 minutes
